I’ve lived a lot of lives across different industries, cities, and experiences that stretched me, shaped me, and proved I can handle just about anything life sends my way.
It was a simple favor for a friend. I prepped a home for a showing, just a quick in and out. As I went to leave, I realized I forgot the lockbox. I walked back, put it on, and headed to my car. Suddenly, I felt a sharp pain in my foot. I looked down and saw blood gushing from my shoe. There was no noise, no scene, nothing to explain it, but whatever caused it completely changed my day.
As I sat there holding pressure on the wound and waiting for the ambulance, I couldn’t help thinking this wasn’t the kind of challenge I expected in real estate. At the hospital, the X-rays showed a 9 millimeter bullet lodged in my foot. I had been shot and didn’t even know it.
Believe it or not, the unpredictability is something I’ve always loved about real estate, even if a gunshot wound was never on my list of possibilities. Over time, I’ve realized that my diverse background is a big part of why this career fits me so well.
I’m a fourth-generation Coloradan and grew up in Golden, where Coors beer and Red Rocks were a part of my backyard. My parents were sharp, driven, and deeply entrepreneurial, so business was a constant conversation in our home. I started working at 14 and quickly learned that my tenacity and ability to figure things out on the fly were real strengths. I never stepped away from a challenge and never hesitated to try something new.
Over the years, I’ve taken on a wide range of roles, from selling wedding dresses and arranging flowers to software consulting and medical device sales. Whether I was consulting or managing teams, I learned how to work effectively with people, adapt quickly, stay calm under pressure, and solve problems without a clear roadmap. My work also took me all over the world, and I often joke that I’ve visited just about every crappy town in North America. Beyond work, I’ve always loved traveling on my own, exploring different cultures, and gaining a deeper understanding of the many ways people live.
For years, a friend encouraged me to get into real estate, and in 2014 the timing finally made sense. I quickly realized that my wide range of experiences helped me connect with just about anyone. I know a little bit about a lot of things, and in every role I’ve ever taken on, I’ve led with relationships first. Real estate is no different.
What keeps me in this business is the people first. The fact that no two days ever look the same is just a bonus. Every transaction is its own world, with its own set of challenges, and I get to help my clients work through each one.
With all that being said, I never imagined getting shot would be part of the job. Yet there I was with a bullet in my foot. The police believed someone fired a gun into the air somewhere within a two-mile radius, and I was simply in the wrong place when it came down. Or was it the right place?
After three years, the bullet was finally released from the evidence locker I went to the Denver Police Headquarters to claim it. I had it made into a necklace surrounded by diamonds, which I wear practically daily. It reminds me how unpredictable life can be and why it matters to stay present, embrace opportunities, and make sure everything I do in my life and in my business aligns with my values and what brings true fulfillment.
As a real estate broker, I oversee the entire process to take the pressure off my clients’ shoulders. That includes managing timelines, vendors, paperwork, negotiations, and communication with all parties involved. I catch issues before they turn into problems, keep everything on track, and make sure you always understand what is happening without needing to chase anyone down or decipher legal language on your own. Whether it involves pushing for answers, resolving last-minute complications, or ensuring every detail is handled properly, I stay calm, clear, and focused so you can feel confident throughout the experience.
When I see something that needs to get done, I step in and handle it, whether that means helping prep before a showing, coordinating with contractors, or assisting with move-out logistics. I do whatever it takes to make the process easier. What matters most to me is building real trust and getting the work done properly. The relationship always comes before the transaction, which is why I am honest and upfront about the pros and cons so you can make a confident, informed decision. My goal is to be your lifelong source to the resource; always able to answer questions, offer guidance, and point you in the right direction for anything you might need.
Sincerely,

Wendy Shaya
